Good basic accomodation
Friendly , helpful staff, nice clean room, five minute walk to beach
Rating 7.3

We stayed at Villa Almedilla for four nights in March and it was adequate for our needs, unfortunately our tand trike driver from Tagbilaran port had big problems finding the villa which is tucked away down a narrow dirt track. We finally arrived there after an hour and a half of searching, the room was spotlessly clean and big enough, and the bathroom was large (no bath tub)hot water was always available until we had a brownout. the only slight negative for me , was that the bed was very hard, but we managed to sleep ok though maybe others wont. The villa is situated less than five minutes to the beach, using a short cut via Bohol Divers Club opposite. Within five or ten minutes walk, there are many restaurants and even more if you fancy walking a little further ,the staff are friendly and helpful, and I would say for what we paid it was reasonable value for money. if you want a fridge and phone etc pay a bit more and stay elsewhere.

You can easily do better.
Nice staff, pleasant colored building, decent balcony
Rating 5

Firstly, positive reviews must have come from paid shills or those suffering delusions. The beds are VERY UNCOMFORTABLE (3 inches of cheap foam over wooden slats--yah, good luck with that). Oddly, the room had nice crown moldings, an investment that would have been better focused on the bedding. "Only 50m from the beach" means walking through an area that seems as if it has received no attention since the Japanese Imperial Army laid it to waste in WWII. At night you must walk through the passage way of a broken down house occupied by squatters, a couple with a crying infant and the guy always drinking beer and trying to get me to have a drink with him as he burned cook fires that left the already apocalyptic environment in a pall of nasty smoke. Internet was spotty at best. And less than 50 ft away, closer to the beach, I got a room with breakfast included and a nicer bed for the same price. Good luck, make your day. I also found the beach overrated, clogged with boats and poor for swimming, alot of seaweed beds. Mostly for divers who haul out in the morning. And every morning some local imbecile had a trash fire going to stink the area out. Oh, how I love the smell of burning plastic in the morning! Dumaluan beach is much nicer, in my most humble of opinions. Bigger, wider, no boats, better swimming, fewer people. Alona is great if you prefer the tourist clog.

Near the beach
Rating 7.3

The hotel is a walk away from the beach, the staff are very attentive and helpful. You just have to ask the frontdesk for whatever you need like hot water, mosquito spray, utensils etc. They also offer vans or cars for tours just ask the frontdesk. The only downside is that the nearest resto are expensive(along the beach) and the cheaper ones are far.

Very good, peaceful place to stay in a busy resort
Comfortable bed, peaceful, proximity to beach
Rating 7.7

This is a nice quiet place to stay at Alona which is a busy, overcrowded resort. The rooms are spacious with good wifi and good bathrooms. The staff are helpful and smiley!!! It is tucked away down a road which is not very well lit at night so it might be useful to take a small torch. We stayed 5 nights and did not have any problems at all. There is no restaurant attached so you have to find your own breakfast. They have a way through to the beach which takes about 3 minutes. Thoroughly recommended.
